Rapid medical assistance through video consultation with personal mobility on demand

In rural areas, the density of medical practices is low and patients often have to travel long distances. In some areas, there is already a shortage of doctors or the threat of one. Elderly people in particular rely on a driver to make appointments. Another challenge is long waiting times at doctors' offices. Especially with many emergencies and thus short-term appointments, many practices are overcrowded. Yet an emergency from the patient's perspective is not the same as an emergency from the doctor's perspective. Not only the waiting time in the practice, but also the waiting time for the next appointment are often too long. Outside of emergencies, depending on the doctor's specialty, an appointment may not happen for weeks or months. The same problem exists in the city. So when it comes to medical care, rural areas face two challenges, long wait times due to doctor shortages and misjudged emergencies, and the long distance to the doctor's office.

The more efficient handling of consultation hours and a faster assessment of emergencies is made possible by a video consultation hour. The technology for a video consultation is located in the e.GO Mover, i.e. the patient enters the bus and can contact the doctor here. Appointments for a video consultation can be booked online in a user-friendly way and are usually shorter than on-site appointments. This allows the doctor to handle more patients. For some patients, a remote diagnosis can be made. Especially for follow-up appointments, the video consultation is very useful for both sides. If the doctor is unable to provide sufficient support via the conversation, the patient must come to the practice. An on-demand e.GO mover is available for this purpose if required. If necessary, the bus can perform other use cases in parallel so that not only one person has to be driven.

Another option is to use the e.GO Mover as a vehicle for the doctor to replace and supplement home visits. Patients who are still mobile can visit the mobile doctor's office in the village. The doctor can equip the bus with more equipment than for home visits. Patients who are not mobile, the doctor can get out of the e.GO Mover and make the home visit. For serious illnesses, the bus can also be used as a type of emergency vehicle to travel to the hospital.
